Abstract
The work deals with advanced preparation and characterization of graphene oxide thin films modified with phytosynthetically prepared silver nanoparticles (nAg). Graphene oxide (GO) was prepared using a modified Hummers method from two types of flake graphites. Two types of nAg with particle size below 20 nm were prepared via reduction using nettle and wormwood extracts. Along with GO they served as a mix for thin films preparation. The films differ in the graphite and plant precursors used for creation of nanoparticles. The resulting materials were characterized by XRD, STEM/AFM, Raman, FTIR, DSC, PSD and the hydrophilicity test by measuring the water contact angles with the film surface. The properties and morphology of the prepared nAg modified GO films were compared with pure GO films. The order of the GO structure decreased slightly after the modification. The surface of the nAg-modified films was gently smoothed and the overall roughness was reduced. The studied samples were evaluated as hydrophobic by determining the contact angle, which corresponds to their chemistry.
