Abstract

This thesis deals with evaluation of crime in Ostravsko during the years 2009-2011. The theoretical part includes definition of crime and offence, factors influencing crime, the possibilities of usage GIS in crime sphere and possible sources of data and the ways of crime evaluation. CrimeStat III is described in the next part. Its practical usage is documented on maps. Description of used input data from ESSK and ETR follows. The next chapter focuses on modification of data from ETR (especially harmonisation and geocoding). The main output of this thesis is evaluation of crime due to data from ESSK (total results of district) and ETR (detailed outputs). Final chapters contain map outputs from ETR documenting the development of crimes and offences using standard deviational ellipses. Chosen categories of a crime are pictured by means of kernel density estimates. Nonrandomness of a violent crime and thefts in statistical districts of Poruba, Trebovice and Pustkovec, is documented in last but one chapter. Special attention is paid to development of a crime in social excluded localities. A crime nearby restaurants, Stodolni street, MDE club and shopping centres in selected years, is analysed in attachment.
