Abstract

This thesis focuses on the calculation of the standard HV traction disconnector warming up. A finite element method is used for calculating the effect of short-circuit currents. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the analysis of disconnectors and thermal and power effects of electric current. Theoretical analysis discusses characteristic and design of disconnectors, a description of specific types of disconnectors and their parameters. Additional chapters follow, describing long and short-term warming up, the inception of electrodynamic forces and their characteristic. The second part of this thesis deals with specific types of traction disconnectors and description of the solved disconnector. Results of PC simulations, performed for warming up of the contact knife and of the whole disconnector, are considered to be the fundamental achievements of this thesis.
