Abstract

This Thesis is focused to determine the wastewater toxicity. Wastewater is coming from the metallurgical industry, which is engaged in the production and processing of steel. For evaluation of the wastewater toxicity was used semichronic toxicity tests with seeds of Lactuca sativa L. and seeds of Allium cepa L. There was evaluated semichronic root growth inhibition of plants for both tests as well. They were also carried out acute toxicity tests on Artemia salina and Daphnia magna. Based on results of this test were determined lethal concentration for the organisms. The wastewater samples were tested for contents of heavy metalsas zinc, iron, manganese, cobalt, cadmium, copper, lead and nickel, and trace contets of anions, i.e. chlorides, nitrates and sulphates. The conductivity and pH were determined as well. Evaluation of semichronic tests resulted to the values of IC50 (50% inhibitory concentration) and evaluation of acute tests resulted to LC50 values (50% lethal concentration).
