Abstract
This thesis examines the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and its real economic impacts on the Czech economy. The thesis is structured into logical sections that trace the historical and legislative development of the system, including the implementation of the current “Fit for 55” package and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The analytical focus of the thesis lies in assessing the impact of rising emission allowance prices on the competitiveness of the Czech energy-intensive industry and on end-user prices for heat and electricity for households. Based on the data collected, the conclusion of the thesis formulates possible scenarios for future developments through
2030 and proposes strategic recommendations to minimize the negative socioeconomic impacts of the transition.
