Abstract

This thesis deals with the embankment construction on a location of an aquiferous collector on the I/38 Kolín city bypass road construction. The lightweight aggregate Liapor was used as a filling material for the road embankment. The purpose of the thesis is to compare the technological, economical and time aspects of the application of the lightweight aggregate in the road embankment and the usage of refuse material removed from an excavation as in standard road embankments. The first part of the thesis characterises the Kolín city bypass road construction and its geological as well as hydrological situation which led to the proposal of sandwich embankment construction employing the lightweight aggregate Liapor. In the subsequent part of the thesis, both of the above mentioned road embankment options are described and compared in terms of technology, economic costs, time demands and the duration of road embankment settlement. In conclusion, the thesis summurizes the advantages and disadvantages of the applied technologies as well as the suitability of the expanded embankment usage in aquiferous areas.
