Abstract

The topic is this thesis is user authorization in web applications. The goal is to design and implement an authorization component for web applications. The component may be included in a stand-alone system, but it can also be used to serve multiple applications over a web service interface. The thesis describes the concept and issues of web application authorization and evaluates current authorization methods. Part of the work is design and documentation of the interface for connecting to web applications and testing of the component. A system for central component management and a web application using the component's services were implemented alongside the component. The authorization component is thus implemented and tested in a real-world web application.
