Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on two forging technologies: free forging on presses and forging on a radial forging machine. The influence of these forging methods on microstructure and mechanical properties of selected steels (C45, S355J2G3 a 42CrMo4) was investigated. The effect of forming parameters on macrostructure was evaluated on cross sections after deep etching. For forgings made of C45 and S355J2G3 steels quality heat treatment and testing of mechanical properties under the surface was performed. Furthermore, microstructure in the centre and under the surface of forgings was evaluated. The results of studies did not prove a significant effect of forging technologies investigated on mechanical properties of forgings made of C45 and S355J2G3 steels in the state after the quality heat treatment.
