Abstract

This thesis deals with the production of furnace rollers by foundry technology, based on their repeated cracking during surface treatment of cylinders. The theoretical part focuses on the production of different types of cylinders and their applications. I also work with the different casting technologies and defects that can be encountered during production. For the practical part of the thesis, the actual solution procedure is then discussed. This is based on finding a suitable foundry technology for the production of furnace rollers. It relies here on the modification of the design of the roll itself and simulation processes. It also describes the eventual production, while pointing out any shortcomings that may occur during production.
