Abstract

The subject of this thesis is the evaluation of selected public services provided by the Municipality of Ostrava for the period 2007-2011. Were selected for evaluation of public services: public road transport operation, maintenance and operation of public lighting and road maintenance. The evaluation was done in terms of legislation, in terms of collateral and cost of these services. The first part is devoted to the theory of public services and the status of the City of Ostrava. In the second part of the thesis is elaborated which specific public services are provided by the Municipality of Ostrava and the method of time series analysis is illustrated by the development of expenditure on public services by individual departments. The last section is an assessment of selected public services according to specified criteria during 2007-2011.
