Abstract

Warm and kind weather, a cultivating of wine grapes, but also an exploitation of a coal - lignite - belong to the South Moravia. I deal with an exploitation of lignite and it is effect on an environment in my treatise. There are two lignite beds - Kyjov bed (kyjovská sloj) and Dubňany bed (dubňanská sloj). Lignite is used as an energetic raw material. Today there is only one mine - the mine Mír (důl Mír) - in the South Moravian Lignite Basin. This is the last active mine in the whole mine district. The lignite is used in the Hodonín’s power station. Every mining activity influences the environment very much. There are subsidences, undermining, changes of an flowing - off regime of underground water and changes of a flowing - off regime of surface water in this area. An exploitation brings enormous amount of mining water and this water flows - off into surface flows. This activity effects an environment positively - this is a pleasant finding. You can also read about an interesting proramme „Terraclean“, which does the company Lignit Hodonín, s. r. o. In the conclusion I evaluated the positive and also the negative influence of the lignite exploitation on the environment.
