Abstract

The objective of the thesis is to analyze filing motions to permit discharge from debts within Moravian-Silesian region in order to determine which age group filed these motions most often between 2008 and 2011. At the same time, the thesis is heading towards creating a statistical model which would predict development of the number of filed motions in future. In the end, the thesis should point out the reasons why the given group of people is the most prone to filing motions to permit discharge from debts within Moravian-Silesian region. However, it is necessary to cover the essential theoretical basis of insolvency law and statistics first. Then, using statistical rules and formulas, the necessary calculations are done and the results are compared to each other in order to determine the target group. In the second part of the thesis, the regression model allowing the prediction of development of the number of filed motions in future years is built on the basis of preselected variables. Despite the fact that two variables had to be discarded, the model has retained certain explanatory power. It could be used by the Ministry of Justice for predicting future development of filed discharge from debts motions.
