Socio-ekonomické determinanty rozvoje malých obcí

Abstract

This thesis addresses the socio-economic analysis of four small municipalities in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The main goal of the thesis is to determine the influence of socio-economic factors on the development of citizen needs in small municipalities over the period 2010–2022 through selected qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods. The thesis is structured into six chapters. The theoretical part emphasizes management and municipal tasks, and the socio-economic prerequisites for regional development. The methodology of the solution using a DEA model focused on inputs and a questionnaire survey is clarified in the practical part. The efficiency results of the municipalities are then compared with the results of the questionnaire survey regarding the satisfaction of the citizens of the studied municipalities. The conducted research found that the size of the municipality and the number of inhabitants do not influence the level of efficiency, as the largest investigated municipality had the lowest efficiency rate. The research also indicates that citizens of municipalities without commercial facilities are less satisfied than citizens of municipalities with commercial facilities. Municipal management should focus on improving citizen satisfaction through regular questionnaire surveys or actively involve citizens in municipal management to enhance territorial development. The thesis presents interesting and new perspectives on municipal management and efficiency and the fulfillment of their needs for their citizens, but it has its limitations given by the methodology and the data included in the methodology.
