Abstract

The thesis deals with the impact of the titanium dioxide nanoparticles to the living organism and particulary to those of the freshwater ecosystem, whose are representatives of several trophic levels. For the tested samples of the titanium dioxide nanoparticles and the silver doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles, which were prepared by a sol gel method, the EC50 toxicity parameters for the freshwater green algae detection organism Desmodesmus subcapitatus were experimentally obtained. The physicochemical properties of the tested samples were examined by powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Raman confocal microspecroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. It had been found out that the EC50 parameter was approximately 6.5-times higher for the silver doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles than for the titanium dioxide nanoparticles. This means that the silver doped sample is more toxic than the undoped one.
