Abstract

This thesis deals with migration in selected countries of the European Union in the period 2001 to 2012. Its objective is to evaluate and analyze the effects of migration on selected countries of the European Union. The work is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with the theoretical definition of migration and multiculturalism. There is presented theoretical approaches to migration and the impact of migration on the labor market. The following chapters describe the number of foreigners in selected countries and also the number of asylum seekers in these countries. There is also evaluation of the effects of migration on the selected countries and it is to focus on the impact of unemployment, the minimum wage and the GDP. The result of this work is the finding that the rate of unemployment, the minimum wage and the size of the country's GDP have a major impact on the number of immigrants in selected countries.
