Abstract
For my diploma thesis I have chosen the topic of ,,Foreign trade of the European Union with a focus on energy resources". The aim of this diploma thesis is to define the essence of foreign trade and trade policy in a general sense and in terms of the European Union, to analyse the foreign trade of the European Union in the field of energy resources, to outline
the development of the energy policy from the perspective of the future
and imagine possible future trends in consumption, production and imports
of energy resources.
Diploma´s thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction. The theme of the diploma thesis is elaborate in the following three chapters, followed by the conclusion. In the second chapter, I identified the importance of foreign trade, pointed to the growing influence
of the globalized world economy to foreign trade, emphasized foreign trade functions and explained its basic theoretical concepts related to the theory
of factors of production facilities of the country. The conclusion of this chapter, I defined the foreign trade policy in general sense and in terms
of the European Union and the tools mentioned, which are regulated by bilateral trade relations of countries. The third chapter is focused on the analysis of foreign trade of the European Union. This chapter is devoted to energy resources and analysed the commodity structure of foreign trade. Then I mapped energy resources, especially their consumption, production and reserves in the world. In the end of the chapter, I focused on defining the European Union's dependence on imported energy resources. In the fourth chapter, I introduced the Energy Policy and concentrate on its development until 2010 and then in the future. The last point is the analysis of future trends in energy resources.
