Abstract

This diploma thesis is focused on possibilities of using social networks to inform the population in emergency and crisis situations. The theoretical part primarily deals with the explanation of the terms which are used in this work, history of social networks, their distribution and an overview of the most used networks in our country and in the world. Practical part compares the most useful social networks for informing the population in terms of their use as a source of information and implementation of media strategy for the purposes of the objectives. This part of thesis contains a sociological survey, which was attended by 854 respondents. The survey addresses the research of public level awareness of the possibilities in informing the population through social networks, where the main goal is to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency in an emergency or crisis situation.
