Rekonstrukce krátkého bronzového meče

Abstract

The aim of my bachelor thesis is crafting of the free style bronze short sword situated to Bronze age in Europe. I chose this topic, because I am interested in cold weapons and it is possible to say the most massive development and production started at this age of human history. The thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical parts. In theoretical part is the text focused on history at Bronze age in central Europe, mining and smelting the bronze. Followed by description of Bronze tools, especially cold weapons. Practical part describes step by step the whole process of making the Bronze short sword from beginning to the final treatment. The work begins with creating of wooden pattern, it’s emplacement to the mold and casting the bronze. Then came complicated shaping of the casted blade with file and also forming the handle for the blade. The whole process is captured in photos during each step.
