Abstract

Thermal destruction represents a possible alternative for municipal waste disposal. It is a complex process, whose overall setting is due to a heterogeneous composition of municipal waste very difficult. This thesis outlines the parameters such as calorific value, combustion temperature, etc., which have a major impact on the course and the quality of incineration. Principals of municipal solid waste incinerator are also explained. The intention of the practical part was to determine the excess air coefficient of the newly built experimental furnace. The objectives of the experiment included a continuous monitoring of the combustion process, depending on the set conditions (pressure, temperature and the amount of combustion air fed) of the combustion chambers. The aim was to determine the resultant air excess coefficient of the furnace for a solid fuel of homogenous composition by analysing volume fractions of O2, CO2 and CO in the flue gas
