Abstract
Emission spectroscopy is the effective tool for deriving information about chemical and temperature structure of flame with broad range of potential application in combustion and fire supression diagnostics. This work summarizes the principles of emission spectroscopy including basic theoretical and practical aspects. The aim of the work is monitoring chemiluminescence of methane and ethylene flame in laboratory conditions. Two different experimental setups were employed for this purpose. In order to test the given setups, this task was focused on intensive transitions of diatomic molecules in visible spectral range, mainly to so-called Swan bands of dicarbon molecule. Measurement techniques and approaches to optimization of experimental setup as well as interpretation of vibrinic spectra by the means of simulation based on proper molecular parameters are described in details.
