Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with a topic of designing a rock vault based on different authors attitude. In the introductory part the thesis contains a look into the origins of arching theory and draws the lines between two basic principles for approximate solutions for shallow tunnels and for profiles placed in large depths, where the individual theories are elaborated further. After getting familiar with how to deduct the chosen methods, we get to the next part of the thesis which aims to compare these formulas based on similarity of mathematical expressions or by their modification and determination of function variables, so that input parameters of the function can be calculated to achieve identical results for different arching theories. These results are then compared with potential characteristics of real environment. In the next step thesis adds values into the chosen theories of model environments, but differing in massif material and profile geometry, all that with a purpose to compare individual heights of rock vault according to authors’ opinions in similar conditions. The conclusion deals with an evaluation and analysis of achieved results.
