Abstract

This dissertation focuses on solving possibility of water disinfection with chlorin prepared on-site. The object is verification of method of chlorine-based disinfectant preparation. Selected agents are operationally simple to use and offer an alternative option for disinfection of drinking water. Two preparation methods that do not use chlorine gas and are operationally simple to use were verified. The first verified technology is the preparation of chlorine dioxide using TwinOxide technology. During laboratory experiments, it was found that the prepared stock solution of the disinfectant is necessary to leave in reaction for four hours to provide a constant concentration of chlorine dioxide. The agent is suitable for disposable disinfection or less sources with respect to water quality. It is also appropriate to localities where using of chlorine gas is not suitable for safety reasons. Water samples could be hygienically secured by mentioned agent and monitored indicators meet the Ministry of Health Decree. No. 252/2004 Coll. The second method of disinfectant production was verifying the effectiveness of mixed oxidants produced by the electrolysis of sodium chloride, using a handheld disinfecting pen Miox. It was found by laboratory verification that the device can be used for disinfecting small quantities of water and it is necessary to take into account the input water quality. The monitored indicators meet the Ministry of Health Decree. No. 252/2004 Coll. In the next phase of the research, both presented methods of preparation disinfectant were tested on samples of mine water with different water quality. The results showed that mining water can be used as an alternative water source for drinking water treatment in critical dry periods. It is necessary to monitor its composition, because its quality is in space and time very variable.
