Abstract

Coal mining extremely affects and erodes the landscape. After the mining activity came to an end lots of spoil heaps arose. I would like to point out these characteristic anthropogenic profiles. Nowadays spoil heaps are used mainly for leasure activities. They are also excavated for road constructions or filling up tracks. Recultivation helps to put the damaged localities to an “original condition”. Interest is mainly focused on anthropogenic baked clays which originate on spoil heaps. Readers get to know the clays’ basic characteristics, structure and conditions of creation. The purpose of this thesis is a petrographic analysis of anthropogenic baked clays which are picked up in particular localities. Consequently I tried to find out whether the material, after alternation, would be suitable for industrial use. Scientific research detected a division of the main elements in individual baked clays and phase composition that changes with different temperatures. At the end of this thesis you can find an assessment of particular spoil heaps which do accomplish or do not accomplish conditions for opening material used in fireclay.
