Abstract

This work is a continuation of the author's Bachelor thesis „Diving in Mines Rescue“ and deals with devices based on closed-circuit breathing apparatus and their application for mine rescue diving activities. The first section provides a brief historical overview of the development of devices with closed and semi-closed circuit breathing apparatus followed by their categorization according to the basic principles of these devices using their techical schemes. In the next chapter the thesis deals with a list of risks typical for diving with these devices. Following is a detailed presentation of the current representative of an electronically controlled device with a closed-circuit breathing apparatus - „eCCR Hammerhead“. The next chapter presents a proposal of a methodology for the preparation of such a device prior to immersion and also the post-dive care. The last chapter compares the economic side of operation of closed-circuit breathing apparatus v.s. open-circuit breathing apparatus for a specific type of dive. Finally, it assesses the possibility of actual use of devices with closed-circuit breathing apparatus by mines rescue service.
