Abstract

This my dissertation thesis focuses on evaluation of options for obtaining metals of interest from lithium ion batteries . The content includes and describes types of lithium ion batteries, their constructions and material composition. I also present here various methods of recyclation of waste batteries and companies that are deal with it. Due to growing demand and accordingly also growing production and scrap of this lithium ion batteries I focused my practical part of the thesis on abilities how to obtain and get cobalt and nickel from LIB material by conversion to copper. The copper will behave as a collector in this phase. Verification how to obtain metals of interest is provided by pyrometallurgical way. The main goal of my thesis is to find the best conditions and ways for pyrometallurgical processing.
