Abstract

This thesis deals with one possibility of creating an information system for hiking tracks in the area of interest for common people – tourists (hikers). First part of the work was to design the database for storing data about each one track. It was also necessary to design complete graphic user interface (GUI), mainly used for presenting results of processed information about specific track. Important aspect of this work is using GIS tools. First of all we needed them to create missing data. Secondly it was necessary to use GIS for generating visualizations of tracks in “3D” – as a picture depicting placement of track on digital terrain model and also for computing profile of each track. This thesis is split in few logical parts, each describing work from searching information about tracks, trough getting, creating and processing data. Another part is concerning about generating visualizations and profiles and also about design of database and application and its practical realization.
