Abstract

There is analysis in this Diploma thesis and on the basis of the calculations there are compared individual ways and kinds of long-term investment for retail investor in the Czech Republic. Long-term Investment allows attractive investment opportunity on the financial market so Investor can fill his portfolio by more aggressive financial products with higher expected return. The object of the analysis is share investment, Mutual Fund, Supplementary Pension Saving, Unit Linked Insurance. The thesis analyzes the rate of return, fees, taxation and another aspects of individual selected products. For calculations there is used Markowitz model and time value of money. The calculations are based on historical returns of individual products from selected companies in last 5 years (2008 – 2013). By the analysis it was found that share investment is with the highest return with the lowest fees , investment to mutual fund is the second one. Next in order there is Supplementary Pension Saving with state contributions and the worst investment is Unit Linked Insurance with insurance protection.
