Abstract

This thesis overviews current state of treatment of biodegradable waste produced by households (biodegradable municipal waste - BMW). The theoretical part concludes new trends in the managment of biodegradable waste, requirements of European Union, the prognosis for several years ahead. It also focuses on the issue of building new facilities for processing biodegradable waste (BW) as incinerators and composting plants. Practical part conssists of statistical research focusing on various factors influencig people in segregating of BW (eg, respondent’s age, level of education, gender, type of housing, etc.). The results are processed in conclusions. Finally, this work proposes ways of improving current situation in BMW managment.
