Abstract

PTACEK, Lubos. Influence of Wood Moisture to Its Flammability. Ostrava, 2016. 83 p. Diploma thesis. Faculty of Safety Engineering, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava. This diploma thesis deals with description, construction (macroscopic and microscopic) characteristics and wood combustion, thermal degradation of wood, preparing samples for measurement, test sequences and evaluation of the measured results. The work is divided into two main parts, theoretical and practical. The introduction of the theoretical part describes the history of the use of wood, in the second part is presented and discussed macroscopic and microscopic structure of wood and its properties. The third part deals with the burning of wood and degradation by heat stress. The penultimate chapter is devoted to the theoretical part and describes methods which are used to determine flammability of materials. In conclusion, the theoretical part deals with the composition and calibration of a cone calorimeter. The practical part consists of the description of the sample preparation prior to measurement followed by tabular and graphical representation of test results. In the last part tests evaluation and measured values are presented. At the end, in Annex A, photographs of samples after the tests completion are shown.
