Abstract
The regulation stones of the coke battery started to crack and crumble due to silica’s low resistance to sudden changes in temperatures. It was necessary to find a more suitable material for their production. This thesis compares important thermomechanical properties of refractory materials and the problem of cracking of silica regulation stones is solved by replacing the production material with andalusite, which achieves much better resistance to sudden changes in temperature and higher heat resistance.
