Geoturistická exkurze významnými výskyty mramoru na Jesenicku

Abstract

This thesis examines significant marble deposits in the Jeseník region and the possibilities for their geotourism promotion. Its aim was to present the Jeseník region as a classic area for the occurrence of marble and other metamorphic rocks, and at the same time as a region with geotourism potential based on specific sites and the regional geological structure. Sub-goals included a literature review of marbles and the geology of the northern part of the Silesian Massif, a description of the most significant marble sites in the Jeseník region, an assessment of the area from a geotourism perspective, and a proposal for a geotourism excursion. The work is based on a review of the scientific literature, field surveys, cartographic processing, and laboratory studies of selected marble samples. Thin sections and polished sections were prepared from samples from Horní Lipová and Supíkovice, studied using optical polarizing microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, and their phase composition was verified using X-ray diffraction. The result of the study is a synthesis of knowledge about the marbles of the Jeseník region, a characterization of the most significant sites, and a mineralogical and petrographic evaluation of selected marbles. Another significant outcome is a proposal for a one-day geotourism excursion connecting active and historic quarries, karst phenomena in crystalline limestones, and sites associated with the processing of carbonate raw materials. The study demonstrates that the Jeseník region is an area of high geological value with significant potential for both professionally guided and popularly oriented geotourism.
