Abstract

This thesis deals with photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide over kaolinite-TiO2 composite. The aim of photoreduction of carbon dioxide is its conversion onto another less harmful and better usable substances. The photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide was performed in the stirred batch annular reactor in the presence of six catalysts in the form of composites kaolinite-TiO2, calcined ath different temperatures and time The NaOH solution with suspended catalyst was saturated by CO2 and illuminated by an 8 W Hg lamp with a peak light intensity at 254 nm. Three main products of CO2 photocatalytic reduction were methane, hydrogen and carbon monoxide in gas phase. Methanol was detected in liquid phase. Based on the experimental results, it can be concluded that the calcined kaolinite-TiO2 composites are more active than the dried composites. Advantageous calcination temperature was set at 600°C. Prolonged calcination of the samples proved to be advantageous in obtaining higher yields of main products.
