Environmentální rizika při požárech skládek odpadů

Abstract

Landfill fires negatively affect the environment and human health. This work deals with the issue of fires in legal and illegal landfills in the Ústí nad Labem region and focuses in detail on the real factors that cause fires and the possible environmental risks of these fires. It deals with the description of the CELIO (Central Waste Disposal) landfill near Most and the biggest fire in terms of the number of deployed units from 2017, which broke out at this landfill. It also describes the possibilities of spreading toxic substances escaping from fires. The text also pays attention to the activities of members of fire protection units in fighting landfill fires, as well as the characteristics of technical equipment that helps protect against the effects of these risks in fighting these events. The next part of the work presents the characteristics of detection devices for chemical substances used by the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. The conclusion of the work is an evaluation of the state of the problem and a discussion of experiences from abroad, which generally confirm the knowledge gained by autopsy.
