Baláž, P.: Floating pumps and their use in firefighting: thesis. Ostrava. VŠB - TU Ostrava, Faculty of Safety Engineering, 2016, 71 p. The thesis is dealing with the issue of floating pumps and their use in firefighting. Its task is to familiarize firefighters with the basic ways of using floating pumps during emergency events and their comparison with the use of portable motor pumps. The analysis of equipment of fire protection units in the Liberec region with the most common types of floating pumps is provided in the thesis. In addition, a survey of the frequency of use of floating pumps in different types of emergency events using statistical data is involved in the thesis. This thesis is also engaged in providing the survey and comparison of actual quotations of floating pumps in the Central European market and in assessment of the possibility of replacement of the existing portable fire pumps by floating pumps in the equipment of fire brigade units.
