Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is considered as an important pollutant contributing to a greenhouse effect. N2O also belongs to the group of compounds depleting stratospheric ozone layer of Earth. Decomposition of N2O to natural components of atmosphere, N2 and O2, in the presence of suitable catalyst is the best possibility of nitrous oxide abatement. In this diploma thesis, oxide catalysts with content of cobalt, manganese and aluminium were prepared by impregnation of 8 various supports and tested for N2O catalytic decomposition in inert gas and in presence of O2, H2O and NO. The adjudication of support effect on the catalytic properties of Co-Mn-Al mixed oxide was the aim of work. Catalysts were characterized by various techniques (SEM-EDAX, XRPD, physical adsorption of nitrogen, TPR-H2).
