Abstract

The thesis deals with the assessment of investment and savings opportunities for retail investors in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis was to present the theoretical basis of investing, assess the available investment instruments and provide practical demonstrations of financial planning based on case studies. The theoretical part focused on the breakdown of investments, financial instruments and specific products in the Czech Republic. The practical part made an assessment of available financial products with regard to their performance, riskiness, costliness and other technical characteristics. Finally, case studies of three clients with different financial needs and objectives were developed. The results show that retail investors have a wide range of options when choosing financial instruments as part of their financial planning and the selection of an appropriate portfolio is individual based on their objectives and attitude to risk.
