Abstract
This master thesis deals with the possibility of applying the simulation software FactSage for evaluating the course of metallurgical processes in secondary metallurgy. From the available information, attention is focused mainly on the issue of optimizing the desulphurization process of steel in a ladle furnace using suitable ladle slags. The introductory chapter is therefore focused mainly on the theory of slags and refining reactions related to the reduction of sulfur content in steel. The following chapter emphasizes the analysis of foreign literature related to the optimization of desulphurization by secondary metallurgy processes, where the critical parameters affecting desulphurization were determined slag liquid temperature, basicity, FeO and MnO content, solids at refining temperature, CaO saturation in slag and CaO/SiO2 and Al2O3 ratio. The experimental part of the theis then deals with simulations of quaternary diagrams of the slag system using FactSage software based on the chemical analysis of ladle slag from the company Třinecké železárny a.s. The values of critical parameters that affect the desulfurization reactions between slag and metal were calculated and determined using software FactSage.
