Abstract

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the issue of the accessibility of university websites for people with specific needs, as these websites serve as the main communication platform between the university, students, applicants, and the broader schema_dspacedb. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the accessibility of selected university websites and evaluate the extent to which international accessibility standards are met.

The first part of the thesis introduces the definition of web accessibility, the methodology of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), the legal obligations regarding accessibility in the Czech Republic, its target groups, and the organizations involved in this field. The second part is devoted to describing the methods and tools used to assess website accessibility. In the practical part, selected university websites were tested using a prepared testing scenario and with the help of selected tools and methods. The final chapter presents an evaluation of the testing results.
