Abstract

This thesis deals with the kinetics of adsorption, its equilibrium and modeling of the removal of Cu(II) from an aqueous solution by chemically modified ground coffee waste. In the theoretical part it is possible to find the current state of the issue, the process of biosorption, the characteristics of the used biosorbent and the description of copper. In the experimental part is described the methodology of mechanical and chemical treatment of biosorbent, modeling of kinetics of Cu(II) sorption, study of optimal pH value and equilibrium sorption mechanism by adsorption isotherms (Langmuir and Freudlich model). The best effect was the non-activated biosorbent with an input concentration of the model solution of 100 mg/l, whose maximum adsorption capacity was q = 5,0 mg/g and thus reached 100 % adsorption efficiency at 30 min contact time, at pH = 5,0 and graininess fraction <0,5 mm. The Langmuir mathematical model of adsorption isotherms, where the correlation coefficient was R² = 0,9987, appeared to be the most suitable for the description of the data obtained.
