Abstract

This bachelor's thesis focuses on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which represent a key step towards greater road safety and partial vehicle autonomy up to Level 3. The theoretical part describes the basic architecture of these systems, including the role of Electronic Control Units (ECUs), the CAN communication bus, and especially the operating principles of the main types of sensors as radar, LiDAR, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors. It also characterizes selected assistance functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring and their mutual cooperation. A separate chapter is dedicated to the current legislation concerning ADAS, including approval requirements and mandatory vehicle equipment. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the experimental analysis of the measurement accuracy of ultrasonic parking sensors depending on the material and distance of the obstacle. This bachelor's thesis provides a comprehensive summary of advanced driver assistance systems in vehicles from the perspective of their development, technology, and a practical demonstration of the real-world functionality and reliability of a component used for low-speed maneuvering.
