Abstract

The bachelor thesis is focused on the implementation of a comparison of heart rate monitors and at the same time the design of a new method of heart rate monitoring for sports and other physical activities. One of the parts is the comparison of sports devices commercially available for heart rate monitoring on the market, where the thesis describes the distribution of heart rate measurement methods, description using electrocardiographic methods of heart rate measurement, which was then supplemented with a system of measurement by capacitive electrodes of electrocardiographic recording of the patient and the subsequent determination of heart rate from this recording. Photoplethysmographic heart rate measurement systems using commercial watches and professional chest straps working with ECG information to measure heart rate were also included. The thesis describes the design of capacitive sensing of the electrical capacity of the heart and the implementation procedure. As a result, the design of a new capacitive electrode was then compared with commercial and conventional ECG recordings on laboratory instrumentation evaluated in this thesis. This work also includes the implementation of testing and comparison of the designed capacitive electrode with sports meters and with a reference given by a simultaneous ECG recording of the patient.
