Abstract
This thesis deals with the threat to the Frýdek-Místek railway station posed by an improvised explosive device (IED). The theoretical part focuses on explosions and explosives in general, improvised explosive devices, terrorism, and the effects of explosions on building structures, which is crucial for assessing the potential consequences of an attack.
The practical part of the thesis specifically examines the Frýdek-Místek railway station. Three analytical methods are utilized in the research. The Ishikawa diagram is used to identify the causes of the analyzed issues. This method is followed by the FMEA analysis. Additionally, the CARVER method is used as a verification tool. Both methods are further analyzed using
a Pareto diagram with a Lorenz curve. The practical section also includes calculations of the effects of an explosion on the structural integrity of the railway station. Based on the findings of the analyses, the conclusion of the thesis proposes measures aimed at minimizing the risk of placing and initiating an IED at the railway station.
