Abstract

The study has been devoted to the evaluation of the effect of Al2O3 and CaO content in particulate-size fractions of ashes collected at coal combustion due to possible retention of S, Cl, Be, As a Se from flue gas at fluidised-bed power station. Particular attention has been paid to mutual relationships between the contents of Al2O3 and CaO and the concentrations of the five volatile elements in both bottom ash and fly ash. It was concluded that with increasing Al2O3 content the concentrations of the volatile elements decreased, while the increasing content of CaO brought about increasing concentrations of these volatile elements. The conclusion is important mainly in terms of possible retention of S, Cl, Be, As and Se by desulphurization additives because (unlike volatilized elements) their solid particles are captured in particulate control device with high efficiency.
