Abstract
This bachelor thesis is a searchable compilation of several studies for the recovery of indium from e-waste. The first part of the thesis deals with the issues of e-waste and its processing, the critical raw material indium and its importance in materials. Indium as a chemical element and its ionic form is the focus of much of the work. The next section focuses on conventional processing methods using chemical leaching and their precise procedures already in use. This is followed by biotechnological leaching methods using the microorganisms Aspergillus niger and Acidithiobacillus thioxidans. Tables are included in the last section. The tables provide a brief and clear summary of indium recovery methods and their results, both from conventional recovery methods and from bioleaching methods. Finally, all types of methods and their percentage recovery of indium from LCD panels are evaluated.
