Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluate the process of education and development at Stora Enso Company and then propose steps to increase effectiveness and staff satisfaction with training and development in the company.
After writing a literature review on the topic of employee education and development, an analysis of the available corporate materials was done and a survey among employees carried out. The results were statistically analysed using tables and graphs. Evaluation of the data showed that the company has not developed functional system of employee education and development, various phases of the educational process are missing. Employees are interested in education and personal development, though the current system seems to be not very effective.
Based on the findings several proposals and recommendations were formulated. It would be useful to clarify to all employees the principles of a learning organization, to educate company trainers and apply more often modern methods such as coaching and mentoring, perform evaluation of educational events, develop personal planning of trainings and development in a written form including a concrete steps and responsibilities. As an essential proposal can be considered the establishment of the position Education specialist, who should be responsible for implementing all of the above recommendations and foremost for establishing of a functional system using all phases of training and employee development process.
