The subject of the master’s thesis Carbon-Neutral City focuses on reducing the carbon footprint of cities. The objective is to identify measures for sustainable urban design, construction, and operation and to provide a foundation for future strategies for Potštát to achieve carbon neutrality. The theoretical part reviews professional sources and analyzes approaches to carbon neutrality across various sectors on both global and local levels. The thesis emphasizes renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and circular economy. The practical part examines the current emissions status of the city of Potštát and proposes specific measures to reduce emissions, including a conceptual design for a carbon-neutral district. The results of the thesis summarize recommendations and provide a basis for future strategic and action plans for the city of Potštát, supporting its efforts to become carbon-neutral and serving as an inspiration for similar projects in other cities.
