Abstract

This thesis is dealing with analysis of processes, trends and changes in czech printed newspaper which arise because of collisions of printed newspaper with the „new media.“ It deals also with theoretical variants of czech printed media future development. In first chapter, there are defined important concepts and historical development of czech newspaper, information necessary for understanding of connections in next chapters. In second chapter, the „new media“ are defined and changes and development trends in czech printed media connected to the arrival of online media, especially internet, are analyzed. Third chapter is dealing with the future of newspaper in context of changes in western media world. In the final chapter, the model of media’s life-time cycle is introduced and a present situation of two main media of this thesis – printed and online media – is applicated. In third chapter, there are few options outlined how the market of czech newspaper could adapt, if it wants to compete with the new media.
