Abstract

The theory part defines biosorption and describes its mechanism to eliminate hexavalent chromium using sheep's wool. There is explaining the basic issue of biosorption, its application, process and progress chemical reactions. It describes the equilibrium biosorption expressed by Langmuir and Freundlich models. Next part describes used material, which is sheep fleece. This chapter explains mainly structure and chemical composition of keratin. It also describes the behavior of chromium in an aqueous environment. The practical part describes the method of determining and measuring procedures. The measured results of the effect of fleece to remove hexavalent chromium are shown graphically. It was found that a chemically modified biosorbents had the best effect on the removal of Cr (VI) from the waste water from CHROMTechu (100 × dilution). The efficiency of biosorption was 97%. The efficiency of chemically modified biosorbents for the removal of Cr (VI) from waste water from Zbrojovka Brod was 71% and the waste water from Novaservis was 68%. It was shown that the dilution of 1:1 increases the efficiency of biosorption.
