Abstract

The bachelor thesis deals with a branch of Brouk & Babka department store, which was built in Ostrava in the interwar period. The first chapter deals with the economic situation of the Moravian Ostrava during the First Republic. The second chapter describes the development and operation of the Brouk & Babka and its founders Jaroslav Brouk and Josef Babka. The chapter focuses in detail on the Ostrava affiliate, the architect Karel Kotas and the building itself with its specifics. The last part outlines the journalistic issues solved and everything related to it through a variety of journalistic genres. The conclusion summarizes the impact of the department store in Ostrava.
