Abstract

The thesis deals with measurement of 3D objects using reverse engineering. The process acquires data from existing objects, while no CAD-like data is available. The data is acquired my the means of optical CCD sensors and laser LEDs. Such a device is called the "3D scanner". The main goal is to build such a scanner with affordable and easy obtainable components. The data acquired is in normalized format and can be processed by 3rd party commercial applications. This thesis aims to create a prototype - scaled model. Manufacturing of the model is done on a CNC cutter by means of a warm cutting wire. Alternative approach is to make the model on a 3D printer. In case of CNC, the model is made of Styrofoam. In case of 3D printer, epoxy rosin or other material is used.
